TitleQuarks and Leptons From Orbifolded Superstring
Author(s)Choi, Kang-Sin;Kim, Jihn E
PublicationCham, Springer International Publishing, 2020.
DescriptionXX, 536 p. 83 illus., 23 illus. in color : online resource
Abstract NoteThis book is a guide for all those who want to explore the standard model using string theory. The approach pursued is ???halfway??? between a textbook and advanced research work and, accordingly, the book will allow both graduate students and particle phenomenologists to easily get acquainted with this fascinating field. In this new edition the authors report on the status quo of the standard model following the discovery of the Higgs Boson, as well as the latest results concerning physics beyond the standard model. They present a formal introduction to string orbifolds and explain in detail how the massless states and the Kaluza-Klein spectra can be derived from the partition function. In turn, they provide an overview of orbifold phenomenology, by introducing the key aspects of string orbifolds in the context of SUSY standard models. In closing, the authors discuss the Grand Unified Theories (GUTs) from orbifolds and share key concepts regarding Calabi-Yau compactifications, M-theory and F-theory

TitleQuarks and Leptons From Orbifolded Superstring
Author(s)Choi, Kang-Sin;Kim, Jihn E
PublicationBerlin, Heidelberg, Springer Berlin Heidelberg, 2006.
DescriptionXII, 400 p : online resource
Abstract NoteThis book seeks to be a guidebook on the journey towards the minimal supersymmetric standard model down the orbifold road. It takes the viewpoint that the chirality of matter fermions is an essential aspect that orbifold compactification allows to derive from higher-dimensional string theories in a rather straight-forward manner. Halfway between a textbook and a tutorial review, Quarks and Leptons from Orbifolded Superstring is intended for the graduate student and particle phenomenologist wishing to get acquainted with this field

Series(World Scientific Series in Astrophysics)
Abstract NoteThe Encyclopedia of Cosmology, in four volumes, is a major, long-lasting, seminal reference at the graduate student level, laid out by the most prominent, respected researchers in the general field of Cosmology. These volumes will be a comprehensive review of the most important concepts and current status in the field, covering both theory and observation. Volume 4 is a text book at a graduate student level. Main emphases in the book are on the bosonic collective motion (BCM) and the weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) with and without supersymmetry. Also, realization of dark matter from string theories is glimpsed. In addition to these two classes, other candidate particles are explained. One of the attractive features of the encyclopedia is that it is accompanied by supplementary materials including videos and simulations of the numerical computation. This will help the readers to better understand and visualize the concepts discussed.
