TitleParticles and quantum fields
Author(s)Hagen Kleinert
PublicationNew Jersey, World Scientific Publishing Co. Pvt. Ltd., 2016.
Descriptionxxxv, 1591p.
Abstract NoteThis is an introductory book on elementary particles and their interactions. It starts out with many-body Schrödinger theory and second quantization and leads, via its generalization, to relativistic fields of various spins and to gravity. The text begins with the best known quantum field theory so far, the quantum electrodynamics of photon and electrons (QED). It continues by developing the theory of strong interactions between the elementary constituents of matter (quarks). This is possible due to the property called asymptotic freedom. On the way one has to tackle the problem of removing various infinities by renormalization. The divergent sums of infinitely many diagrams are performed with the renormalization group or by variational perturbation theory (VPT). The latter is an outcome of the Feynman-Kleinert variational approach to path integrals discussed in two earlier books of the author, one representing a comprehensive treatise on path integrals, the other dealing with critial phenomena. Unlike ordinary perturbation theory, VPT produces uniformly convergent series which are valid from weak to strong couplings, where they describe critical phenomena.

TitleBeyond the galaxy: How humanity looked beyond our MilkyWay and discovered the entire Universe
Author(s)Ethan Siegel
PublicationSingapore, World Scientific Publishing Co. Pvt. Ltd., 2016.
Descriptionx, 376p.
Abstract NoteA look up at the night sky reveals a treasury of wonders. Even to the naked eye, the Moon, stars, planets, the Milky Way and even a few star clusters and nebulae illuminate the heavens. For millennia, humans struggled to make sense of what's out there in the Universe, from all we can see to that which lies beyond the limits of even our most powerful telescopes. Beyond the Galaxy traces our journey from an ancient, Earth-centered Universe all the way to our modern, 21st century understanding of the cosmos. Touching on not only what we know but also how we know it, Ethan Siegel takes us to the very frontiers of modern astrophysics and cosmology, from the birth of our Universe to its ultimate fate, and everything in between.

TitlePerspectives on string phenomenology
Author(s)Bobby Acharya (ed.);Gordon L. Kane (ed.);Piyush Kumar (ed.)
PublicationNew Jersey , World Scientific Publishing Co. Pvt. Ltd., 2015.
Descriptionxi, 433p.
Series(Advanced Series on Directions in High Energy Physics )
Abstract Note String phenomenology is the branch of string/M theory that studies such solutions, relates their properties to data, and aims to answer many of the outstanding questions of particle physics beyond the Standard Model. This book contains perspectives on string phenomenology from some of the leading experts in the field. Contributions will range from pedagogical general overviews and perspectives to more technical reviews. We hope that the reader will get a sense of the significant progress that has been made in the field in recent years (e.g. in the topic of moduli stabilization) as well as the topics currently being researched, outstanding problems and some perspectives for the future.

TitleEnhanced quantization: Practicles, Fields and Gravity
Author(s)John R. Klauder
PublicationNew Jersey, World Scientific Publishing Co. Pvt. Ltd., 2015.
Descriptionxv, 247p.
Abstract NoteThis book offers alternative quantization procedures that complete the story of quantization. The initial chapters are designed to present the new procedures in a clear and simple manner for general readers. As is necessary, systems that exhibit acceptable results with conventional quantization lead to the same results when the new procedures are used for them. However, later chapters examine selected models that lead to unacceptable results when quantized conventionally. Fortunately, these same models lead to acceptable results when the new quantization procedures are used.

TitleExploring the invisible universe: From Black Holes to Superstrings
Author(s)Belal E. Baaquie;Frederick H. Willeboordse
PublicationNew Jersey, World Scientific Publishing Co. Pvt. Ltd., 2015.
Descriptionxvi, 471p.
Abstract NoteBook covers the gamut of topics in advanced modern physics and provides extensive and well substantiated answers to these questions and many more. Discussed in a non-technical, yet also non-trivial manner, are topics dominated by invisible things - such as Black Holes and Superstrings as well as Fields, Gravitation, the Standard Model, Cosmology, Relativity, the Origin of Elements, Stars and Planetary Evolution, and more. Just giving the answer, as so many books do, is really not telling anything at all. To truly answer the "why" questions of nature, one needs to follow the chain of reasoning that scientists have used to come to the conclusions they have. This book does not shy away from difficult-to-explain topics by reducing them to one-line answers and power phrases suitable for a popular talk show. The explanations are rigorous and straight to the point. This book is rarely mathematical without being afraid, however, to use elementary mathematics when called for. In order to achieve this, a large number of detailed figures, specially developed for this book and found nowhere else, convey insights that otherwise might either be inaccessible or need lengthy and difficult-to-follow explanations.

TitleKnots, braids, and mobius stripe: Particle Physics and the Geometry of Elementarity: An Alternative View
Author(s)Jack Avrin
PublicationNew Jersey, World Scientific Publishing Co. Pvt. Ltd., 2015.
Descriptionxx, 332p.
Series(Series on Knots and Everything)
Abstract NoteElementary particles in this book exist as Solitons in-and-of the fabric of spacetime itself. As such they are characterized by their geometry, that is their topology and configuration which lead directly to their physical attributes and behavior as well as to a simplification and reduction of assumptions and the importation of parameter values. The emphasis of the book is thus on that geometry, the algebraic geometry associated with taxonomical issues and the differential geometry that determines the physics as well as on simplifying the results. In itself, however, the process of assembling and developing what eventually went into the book has been a singularly rewarding journey. Along the way some fascinating insights and connections to known physical attributes and theories emerge, some predictable but others unbidden and even unanticipated. The book is intended to summarize that journey in a way that, readers with a range of backgrounds will find interesting and provocative. Connections to other physical theories and subjects are also discussed. A most gratifying development is the emergence of a unifying principle underlying the epistemological structure of not only the elementary particles but of such diverse fields as Radar, Quantum mechanics, Biology, Cosmology and the Philosophy of science.

TitleLight and vacuum: The Wave-Particle Nature of the Light and the Quantum Vacuum through the Coupling of Electromagnetic Theory and Quantum Electrodynamics
Author(s)Constantin Meis
PublicationNew Jersey, World Scientific Publishing Co. Pvt. Ltd., 2015.
Descriptionxiv, 122p.
Abstract NoteLight and Vacuum presents a synthesis of selected fundamental topics of electromagnetic wave theory and quantum electrodynamics (QED) and analyzes the main theoretical difficulties encountered to ensure a coherent mathematical description of the simultaneous wave-particle nature of light, put in evidence by the experiments. The notion and the role of the quantum vacuum, strongly related to light, are extensively investigated.
