Title | Weak Interactions and Higher Symmetries : Proceedings of the III. Internationale Hochschulwochen f??r Kernphysik 1964 der Karl-Franzens-Universit??t Graz, at Schladming (Steiermark, Austria) 24th February ??? 7th March 1964 |
Author(s) | Urban, Paul |
Publication | Vienna, Springer Vienna, 1964. |
Description | IV, 256 p. 18 illus : online resource |
Abstract Note | Weak interactions and higher symmetries are nowadays of special importance for elementary particles theory. Lately both theoretical and experimental physicists became more and more interested in the subject. Because of the complicated subject and the scarce available literature proper introductions in the subject are tiresome. The mathematical back?? ground such as higher Algebra and Grouptheory etc. cannot be applied immediately in all cases. The third Schladming University Courses on the above subject belong to this category. The present first supplement volume of "Acta Physica Austriaca" contains all lectures (with literature references) giving not only a review of the fundamentals but also discussing recent research work. I ,;incerely hope that the pUblication will find interested readers. In the last years it became customary in physics and mathematics to arrange summer schools on subjects which allow the experienced as well as the young scientiflt to get quickly acquainted with special modern fields. Discussions and private contacts make it possible for participants to touch quickly the peripheries of the subject in question, and new research work will be stimulated which otherwise could not be expected. Title | Nuclidic Masses : Proceedings of the Second International Conference on Nuclidic Masses, Vienna, Austria July 15???19, 1963 |
Author(s) | Johnson, Walter H.Jr |
Publication | Vienna, Springer Vienna, 1964. |
Description | VII, 474 p. 15 illus : online resource |
Abstract Note | The Second International Conference on Nuclidic Masses was held in Vienna, Austria, July 15-19, 1963, using facilities of the International Atomic Energy Agency. This was the third conference in the general area of nuclidic masses in recent years. The first, a symposium held at the Max Planck Institut fur Chemie in 1956, was international in character but not in name. The First International Conference on Nuclidic Masses was held at McMaster University in September of 1960 in conjunction with and shortly after the meeting of the General Assembly of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics and the Kingston Conference on Nuclear Structure. The Second International Conference on Nuclidic Masses was held under the sponsorship of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics and the Nuclear Science Committee of the National Academy of Sciences-National Research Council of the United States. Financial support for the conference came from the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization. The conference committee was made up of the following individuals: Chairman: J. H. E. MATTAUCH General Secretary: H. E. DUCKWORTH Local Secretary: F. P. VIEHBOCK w. W. BUECHNER B. GROSS E. R. COHEN M. J. HIGATSBERGER A. DE SHALIT A. O. C. NIER J. W. M. DuMoND H. H. STAUB B. S. Title | Few-Body Problems in Particle, Nuclear, Atomic, and Molecular Physics : Proceedings of the XIth European Conference on Few-Body Physics, Fontevraud, August 31???September 5, 1987 |
Author(s) | Ballot, Jean-Louis;Fabre de la Ripelle, Michel |
Publication | Vienna, Springer Vienna, 1987. |
Description | XVII, 583 p : online resource |
Abstract Note | The 1987 Fontevraud Conference gathered more than 100 physicists for the purpose of discussing the latest developments of research on few-body problems. In addition to participants from most European countries representatives from Brazil, Canada, Israel, Japan, South Africa, and the USA took part in the meeting. In the conference program special emphasis was laid on bringing together the various fields, where few-body problems play an important role. Beyond the traditional areas of nuclear and particle physics, in recent years interest has been focussed especially on atomic and molecular physics. This developent is due to the design of new techniques for solving few-body problems under rather general premises. The proceedings contain all plenary talks and the contributions presented orally at the conference. They cover such topics as: few-quark systems and short-range phenomena, two- and three-body forces in quark as well as nucleonic systems, few-hadron bound states, response of few-body systems to electromagnetic and hadronic probes, form factors, hypernuclei, atomic and molecular few-body systems, hyperspherical method, separable expansions, numerical techniques, etc. It appears that recently, even in one year after the Tokyo-Sendai Conference, much progress has been achieved in research on various few-body systems. The present volume gives a comprehensive summary of the modern state of the art and at the same time a proper account of the most recent results obtained in the different institutions and laboratories |
