| Title | Combustion : Physical and Chemical Fundamentals, Modeling and Simulation, Experiments, Pollutant Formation |
| Author(s) | Warnatz, J??rgen;Maas, Ulrich;Dibble, Robert W |
| Publication | Berlin, Heidelberg, Springer Berlin Heidelberg, 1999. |
| Description | X, 299 p : online resource |
| Abstract Note | Combustion is an old technology, which at present provides about 90% of our worldwide energy support. Combustion research in the past used fluid mechanics with global heat release by chemical reactions described with thermodynamics, assuming infinitely fast reactions. This approach was useful for stationary combustion processes, but it is not sufficient for transient processes like ignition and quenching or for pollutant formation. Yet pollutant formation during combustion of fossil fuels is a central topic and will continue to be so in future. This book provides a detailed and rigorous treatment of the coupling of chemical reactions and fluid flow. Also, combustion-specific topics of chemistry and fluid mechanics are considered, and tools described for the simulation of combustion processes. For the 2nd edition, the parts dealing with experiments, spray combustion, and soot were thoroughly revised |

| Title | Gas Phase Chemical Reaction Systems : Experiments and Models 100 Years After Max Bodenstein Proceedings of an International Symposion, held at the ???Internationales Wissenschaftsforum Heidelberg???, Heidelberg, Germany, July 25 ??? 28, 1995 |
| Author(s) | Wolfrum, J??rgen;Volpp, Hans-Robert;Rannacher, R;Warnatz, J??rgen |
| Publication | Berlin, Heidelberg, Springer Berlin Heidelberg, 1996. |
| Description | XIII, 343 p : online resource |
| Abstract Note | Gas Phase Chemical Reachtion Systems consists of edited papers presented at the International Symposion Gas Phase Chemical Reaction Systems: Experiments and Models 100 Years after Max Bodenstein, held at Heidelberg. It is divided into six sections, reflecting the diversity of the topics discussed. Part I is devoted to experimental reaction dynamics studies employing laser and molecular-beam techniques. Part II is the theoretical counterpart of Part I. Part III summarizes the current status of the Bodenstein (H2+I2) "textbook reaction" with experimental and theoretical results. Part IV shows the different approaches for the calculation of state-specific and thermal rate data. Part V includes papers from the "heterogeneous reactions" session and Part VI is devoted to the mathematical modelling of turbulence, reactive flows and complex chemical reaction systems |
