TitleIrreversibility and Causality : Semigroups and Rigged Hilbert Spaces
Author(s)Bohm, Arno;Doebner, Heinz-Dietrich;Kielanowski, Piotr
PublicationBerlin, Heidelberg, Springer Berlin Heidelberg, 1998.
DescriptionXIX, 388 p : online resource
Abstract NoteThis volume has its origin in the Semigroup Symposium which was organized in connection with the 21st International Colloquium on Group Theoretical Methods in Physics (ICGTMP) at Goslar, Germany, July 16-21, 1996. Just as groups are important tools for the description of reversible physical processes, semigroups are indispensable in the description of irreversible physical processes in which a direction of time is distinguished. There is ample evidence of time asymmetry in the microphysical world. The desire to go beyond the stationary systems has generated much recent effort and discussion regarding the application of semigroups to time-asymmetric processes. The book should be of interest to scientists and graduate students

TitleGroup Theoretical Methods in Physics : Proceedings of the XVI International Colloquium Held at Varna, Bulgaria, June 15-20, 1987
Author(s)Doebner, Heinz-Dietrich;Hennig, J??rg D;Palev, Tchavdar D
PublicationBerlin, Heidelberg, Springer Berlin Heidelberg, 1988.
DescriptionXI, 599 p : online resource
Abstract NoteThe aim of this well-known annual colloquium on group theoretical and geometrical methods in physics is to give an overview of current research. Original contributions along with some review articles cover relevant mathematical developments as well as applications to physical phenomena. The volume contains contributions dealing with concepts from classical group theory, supergroups, superalgebras, infinite dimensional groups, Kac-Moody algebras and related structures. Applications to physics include quantization methods, nuclear physics, crystallography, gauge theory and strings in particle physics. Most of the articles have an introductory or a review section, so the volume will be useful not only for researchers but also for graduate students

TitleQuantum Groups : Proceedings of the 8th International Workshop on Mathematical Physics, Held at the Arnold Sommerfeld Institute, Clausthal, FRG, on 19???26 July 1989
Author(s)Doebner, Heinz-Dietrich;Hennig, J??rg-D
PublicationBerlin, Heidelberg, Springer Berlin Heidelberg, 1990.
DescriptionX, 438 p. 2 illus : online resource
Abstract NoteA thorough analysis of exactly soluble models in nonlinear classical systems and in quantum systems as well as recent studies in conformal quantum field theory have revealed the structure of quantum groups to be an interesting and rich framework for mathematical and physical problems. In this book, for the first time, authors from different schools review in an intelligible way the various competing approaches: inverse scattering methods, 2-dimensional statistical models, Yang-Baxter algebras, the Bethe ansatz, conformal quantum field theory, representations, braid group statistics, noncommutative geometry, and harmonic analysis
