| Title | Indexing of Crystal Diffraction Patterns : From Crystallography Basics to Methods of Automatic Indexing |
| Author(s) | Morawiec, Adam |
| Publication | Cham, 1. Imprint: Springer
2. Springer International Publishing, 2022. |
| Description | XX, 418 p. 148 illus : online resource |
| Abstract Note | This book provides a detailed, self-contained description of automatic indexing of crystal diffraction patterns, considering both ab initio indexing and indexing of patterns originating from known structures. Introductory chapters equip the reader with the necessary basic knowledge of geometric crystallography, as well as kinematic and dynamic theories of crystal diffraction. Subsequent chapters delve and describe ab initio indexing of single crystal diffraction patterns and indexing of patterns for orientation determination. The book also reviews methods of indexing powder diffraction and electron spot-type patterns, as well the subject of multigrain indexing. Later chapters are devoted to diffraction by helical structures and quasicrystals, as well as some aspects of lattice parameter refinement and strain determination. The book is intended equally for materials scientists curious about ???nuts and bolts??? of diffraction pattern indexing and orientation mapping systems, as well as interdisciplinary researchers from physics, chemistry, and biology involved in crystallographic computing. It provides a rigorous, yet accessible, treatment of the subject matter for graduate students interested in understanding the functioning of diffraction pattern indexing engines |

| Title | Orientations and Rotations : Computations in Crystallographic Textures |
| Author(s) | Morawiec, Adam |
| Publication | Berlin, Heidelberg, Springer Berlin Heidelberg, 2004. |
| Description | X, 200 p : online resource |
| Abstract Note | The book is about mathematical and computational foundations of texture analysis. Numerical techniques are indispensable in texture analysis, so the book is primarily addressed to researchers and students using these techniques in practice. Orientations and Rotations is very different from other books on textures in its content and focal point. Major part of the book is devoted to orientations and rotations in general. Opening chapters contain an extensive and thorough introduction to rotations in three dimensions (including parameterizations and geometry of the rotation space). Further chapters are also general but they will be of interest for readers dealing with orientations of symmetric objects. This subject is essential for crystallographic textures since most crystal structures are symmetric. The final chapters concern more practical aspects of textures (such as the determination of orientations from diffraction patterns and the calculation of effective elastic properties of polycrystals). The book will be of interest for scientists working on plasticity, grain boundaries, recrystallisation, grain growth, and numerous other issues in which textures must be taken into account. Because of the extensive parts on rotations in general, the book can be valuable for everyone dealing with rotations |
