TitleMassive young star clusters near and far: From the Milky Way to Re-ionization: Guillermo Haro Conference to commemorate his birth centenary
Author(s)Divakra Mayya (ed.);Daniel Rosa-Gonzalez (ed.);Elena Terlevich (ed.)
PublicationPuebla, Instituto Nacional De Astrofisica, 2014.
Descriptionxxii, 259p.
Abstract NoteThis volume contains the proceedings of the conference entitled "Massive Young Star Clusters Near and Far: From the Milky Way to Re-ionization" that was held at Pueble, Mexico Between the 2nd and 6th of December 2013 to commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of Guillermo Haro. Star Clusters are the common link between differnt kinds of objects, both Galactic and extragalactic, that he discovered in the fifties and sixthies. The book starts with the physical conditions for forming star clusters, followed by the topic of the formation and evolution of young massive clusters, and their possible relationship to globular clusters and ends with the most extraordinary star-formation systems in the distant universe.

Author(s)Anna Frebel (ed.);Justyn R. Maund (ed.);Juntai Shen (ed.);Michael H. Siegel (ed.)
PublicationSan Francisco, Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 2008.
Descriptionxx, 304p.
Series(Astronomical Society of the Pacific Conference Series)
Abstract NoteThe symposium centered around invited review talks by thirteen postdoctoral researchers covering the vast range of modern astronomical research, from the dynamics of small bodies in the Solar System, to globular clusters in the Milky Way and neighboring galaxies, to theories and observations of galaxy formation in the early Universe, and the instruments being designed for the thirty-meter class telescopes that will be used to study these diverse fields. Poster contributions from undergraduate and graduate students as well as postdoctoral researchers rounded out the conference. These posters also covered a wide variety of topics, including abundances in metal-rich and metal-poor stars, galaxy formation and evolution, multi-wavelength observations, and theoretical studies of supernovae and the early Universe.

TitleModes of star formation and the origin of field populations : Proceedings of a workshop held at Max-Planck Institute of Astronomy, Heidelberg Germany, 9-13 October 2000
Author(s)Eva K. Grebel (ed.);Wolfgang Brandner (ed.)
PublicationCalifornia, Astronomy Society of the Pacific, 2002.
Descriptionxvi, 457p.
Series(Astronomical Society of the Pacific Conference Series; 285)
Contents NoteThe workshop focuses on the different modes of star formation observed in the local Universe with the goal of identifying the dominant processes and their preconditions. In particular, the origin and evolution of field populations is contrasted with cluster formation and evolution. A second complimentary conference, I.A.U. Symposium 207 on 'Extragalactic Star Clusters' organised by E.K. Grebel and D. Geisler was held in Chile in March 2001 and was dedicated to detailed discussions of the properties of star clusters of all types and ages

TitleGlobular clusters : X canary islands winter school of astrophysics
Author(s)C. Martinez Roger (ed.);I. Perez Fournon (ed.);F. Sanchez (ed.)
PublicationCambridge, Cambridge University Press, 1999.
Descriptionxvi, 355p.
Series(Cambridge Contemporary Astrophysics)
Abstract NoteGlobular clusters are spherical, densely packed groups of stars found around galaxies. They are thought to have formed at the same time as their host galaxy and thus provide a powerful probe for understanding stellar and galaxy evolution, as well as being studied as objects of interest in their own right. This timely volume presents invited articles by a team of world leaders who gathered at the X Canary Islands Winter School of Astrophysics to review our current understanding of globular clusters. It provides an accessible introduction to the field for graduate students, and a comprehensive and up-to-date reference for researchers.
