TitleIntroduction to sensors
Author(s)John Vetelino;Arvind Reghu
PublicationNew Delhi, CRC Press, 2015.
Descriptionxiii, 179p.
Abstract NoteThe need for new types of sensors is more critical than ever. This is due to the emergence of increasingly complex technologies, health and security concerns of a burgeoning world population, and the emergence of terrorist activities, among other factors. Depending on their application, the design, fabrication, testing, and use of sensors, all require various kinds of both technical and nontechnical expertise. With this in mind, Introduction to Sensors examines the theoretical foundations and practical applications of electrochemical, piezoelectric, fiber optic, thermal, and magnetic sensors and their use in the modern era. Incorporating information from sensor-based industries to review current developments in the field,

TitleDifference equations: Theory, Applications and Advanced Topics
Author(s)Ronald E. Mickens
Edition3rd
PublicationBoca Raton, CRC Press, 2015.
Descriptionxxii, 533p.
Series(Monographs and Research Notes in Mathematics)
Abstract NoteBook provides a broad introduction to the mathematics of difference equations and some of their applications. Many worked examples illustrate how to calculate both exact and approximate solutions to special classes of difference equations. Along with adding several advanced topics, this edition continues to cover general, linear, first-, second-, and n-th order difference equations; nonlinear equations that may be reduced to linear equations; and partial difference equations. Suitable for self-study or as the main text for courses on difference equations, this book helps readers understand the fundamental concepts and procedures of difference equations. It uses an informal presentation style, avoiding the minutia of detailed proofs and formal explanations.

TitleIntroduction to computational linear algebra
Author(s)Nabil Nassif;Jocelyne Erhel;Bernard Philippe
PublicationBoca Raton, CRC Press, 2015.
Descriptionxxiv, 235p.
Abstract NoteBook presents classroom-tested material on computational linear algebra and its application to numerical solutions of partial and ordinary differential equations. The book is designed for senior undergraduate students in mathematics and engineering as well as first-year graduate students in engineering and computational science. The text first introduces BLAS operations of types 1, 2, and 3 adapted to a scientific computer environment, specifically MATLAB. It next covers the basic mathematical tools needed in numerical linear algebra and discusses classical material on Gauss decompositions as well as LU and Choleskys factorizations of matrices. The text then shows how to solve linear least squares problems, provides a detailed numerical treatment of the algebraic eigenvalue problem, and discusses (indirect) iterative methods to solve a system of linear equations. The final chapter illustrates how to solve discretized sparse systems of linear equations. Each chapter ends with exercises and computer projects.

TitleIntroduction to quantum physics and information processing
Author(s)Radhika Vathsan
PublicationBoca Raton, CRC Press, 2016.
Descriptionxxiii, 246p.
Abstract Noteguides beginners in understanding the current state of research in the novel, interdisciplinary area of quantum information. Suitable for undergraduate and beginning graduate students in physics, mathematics, or engineering, the book goes deep into issues of quantum theory without raising the technical level too much. The text begins with the basics of quantum mechanics required to understand how two-level systems are used as qubits. It goes on to show how quantum properties are exploited in devising algorithms for problems that are more efficient than the classical counterpart. It then explores more sophisticated notions that form the backbone of quantum information theory.
