Description | XIII, 428 p. 221 illus., 201 illus. in color : online resource |
Abstract Note | This book presents more than 70 physics experiments from iPhysicsLabs-column of the Journal The Physics Teacher. The articles are aimed at physics lecturers, trainee teachers and teachers who want to take their classes to the next level using digital devices. The experiments can easily be performed and analyzed using smartphones or tablets. The topics span from mechanics, optics, thermodynamics, astrophysics and astronomy to acoustics, electrodynamics and electronics. Authors worldwide have contributed to this series of articles. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of iPhysicsLabs, Jochen Kuhn and Patrik Vogt have collected more than 70 most popular and interesting articles for this book. The authors/editors Prof. Dr. Jochen Kuhn is a university professor and head of the Physics Education Research Group at the TU Kaiserslautern, Germany. His research focuses on learning with multiple representations in multimedia learning environments in physics and process-based analysis methods - such as eye-tracking analyses in learning and problem solving. Dr. Patrik Vogt studied physics and mathematics on a teaching degree at the University of Koblenz-Landau and was a research assistant and secondary school teacher at various schools and universities in Germany until 2019. Since 2019 he is head of the department "Media Education Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Music, Philosophy" at the ILF in Mainz, Germany |

Title | Physics Teacher Education : What Matters? |
Author(s) | Borg Marks, Joan;Galea, Pauline;Gatt, Suzanne;Sands, David |
Publication | Cham, 1. Imprint: Springer
2. Springer International Publishing, 2022. |
Description | VI, 225 p. 64 illus., 50 illus. in color : online resource |
Abstract Note | This book presents the most up-to-date research contributions focusing on progress in the field of physics education. It provides researches and results that are based on the most relevant matters in physics teacher education and how these matters can be improved for the satisfaction of both teachers and learners. The work is the by-product of the collaboration between GIREP (the International Research Group on Physics Teaching) and the University of Malta. The contributing authors present close examinations of the following topics: ICT and multimedia in teacher education; experiments and laboratory work in teacher education; the role of quantum mechanics in teaching and learning physics; formal, non-formal and informal aspects of physics education at the primary level; strategies for pre-service physics teacher education at all levels; and in-service teacher professional learning strategies. The editors hope that many different stakeholders within scientific academia will find something of value in this compilation of the current most advanced ideas in physics education |

Title | Teaching-Learning Contemporary Physics : From Research to Practice |
Author(s) | Jarosievitz, Beata;S??k??sd, Csaba |
Publication | Cham, Springer International Publishing, 2021. |
Description | X, 285 p. 91 illus., 81 illus. in color : online resource |
Abstract Note | This book presents research contributions focussing on the introduction of contemporary physics topics ??? mainly, but not exclusively, quantum physics ??? into high school currciula. Despite the important advances and discoveries in quantum physics and relativity which have revolutionized our views of nature and our everyday lives, the presence of these topics in high school physics education is still lacking. In this book physics education researchers report on the teaching and learning of quantum physics from different perspectives and discuss the design and use of different pedagogical approaches and educational pathways. There is still much debate as to what content is appropriate at high school level as well what pedagogical approaches and strategies should be adopted to support student learning. Currently there is a greater focus on how to teach modern physics at the high school level rather than classical physics. However, teachers still lack experience and availability of appropriate teaching and learning materials to support the coherent integration of Quantum Physics in high school curricula. All of the 19 papers presented in this book discuss innovative approaches for enhancing physics education in schools |

Description | XI, 290 p. 80 illus., 61 illus. in color : online resource |
Abstract Note | This book highlights selected contributions presented at the 15th annual international symposium Frontiers of Fundamental Physics (FFP15), with the aim of informing readers about the most important recent advances in fundamental physics and physics education research. The FFP series offers a platform for physicists from around the world to present their latest theories and findings. The latest symposium was held in Orihuela, Spain and covered diverse fields of research, including gravitation, astronomy and astrophysics, physics of complex systems, high-energy physics, and mathematical physics. Considerable attention was also paid to physics education research, teacher education in physics, and the popularization of physics. In a knowledge-based society, research into fundamental physics plays a vital role in both the advancement of human knowledge and the development of new technologies. Presenting valuable new peer-reviewed contributions submitted from 15 countries, this book will appeal to a broad audience of scholars and researchers |
