PublicationSingapore, 1. Imprint: Springer 2. Springer Nature Singapore, 2022.
DescriptionXIII, 164 p. 97 illus., 4 illus. in color : online resource
Abstract NoteThis book presents the maintenance of radio equipment and the principles of operation of various radio receiving devices in civil aviation. The main feature of this book is the fact that it covers almost all types of radio receivers currently used in radar, communication and navigation equipment of civil aviation. Special attention is paid to ensuring the sensitivity of the receiver, as well as noise suppression under various conditions. A detailed description of the set of methods for receiving signals, especially in the case of frequency telegraphy is presented. This book provides a detailed description of specific methods of signal processing with frequency modulation???the so-called threshold-lowering reception methods based on reducing the bandwidth to the detector part of the private reception path in combination with the principle of negative feedback. The material presented in this book follows a logical sequence with a large amount of illustrations.

TitleTheory of Elastic Waves
Author(s)Wei, Peijun
PublicationSingapore, 1. Imprint: Springer 2. Springer Nature Singapore, 2022.
DescriptionXIII, 361 p. 102 illus., 27 illus. in color : online resource
Abstract NoteThis book highlights a systematic introduction to the basic theory of elastic wave propagation in complex media. The theory of elastic waves is widely used in fields such as geophysical exploration, seismic survey, medical ultrasound imaging, nondestructive testing of materials and structures, phononic crystals, metamaterials and structure health monitoring. To help readers develop a systematic grasp of the basic theory, and thus its applications, the book elaborates on the theory of elastic wave propagation in isotropic solid media, covering phenomena in infinite media, interfaces, layered structure with finite thickness, Rayleigh wave and Love wave propagating along the surface of semi-infinite solid and covering layer, and the guided waves and leaky waves in flat plates and in cylindrical rods. The propagation patterns and features of guided waves in cylindrical shells and spherical shells are also introduced. The author wrote the book based on a decade of teaching experience of a graduate course of the same name and two decades of research on the theory and applications. The book is a valuable reference for students, researchers and professionals who expect an understandable and comprehensive discussion of the theory, analytical methods and related research results

TitleProperties of QCD Matter at High Baryon Density
Author(s)Luo, Xiaofeng;Wang, Qun;Xu, Nu;Zhuang, Pengfei
PublicationSingapore, 1. Imprint: Springer 2. Springer Nature Singapore, 2022.
DescriptionXI, 287 p. 123 illus., 117 illus. in color : online resource
Abstract NoteThis book highlights the discussions by renown researchers on questions emerged during transition from the relativistic heavy-ion collider (RHIC) to the future electron ion collider (EIC). Over the past two decades, the RHIC has provided a vast amount of data over a wide range of the center of mass energies. What are the scientific priorities, after RHIC is shut down and turned to the future EIC? What should be the future focuses of the high-energy nuclear collisions? What are thermodynamic properties of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) at large baryon density? Where is the phase boundary between quark-gluon-plasma and hadronic matter at high baryon density? How does one make connections from thermodynamics learned in high-energy nuclear collisions to astrophysical topics, to name few, the inner structure of compact stars, and perhaps more interestingly, the dynamical processes of the merging of neutron stars? While most particle physicists are interested in Dark Matter, we should focus on the issues of Visible Matter! Multiple heavy-ion accelerator complexes are under construction: NICA at JINR (4 ~ 11 GeV), FAIR at GSI (2 ~ 4.9 GeV SIS100), HIAF at IMP (2 ~ 4 GeV). In addition, the heavy-ion collision has been actively discussed at the J-PARC. The book is a collective work of top researchers from the field where some of the above-mentioned basic questions will be addressed. We believe that answering those questions will certainly advance our understanding of the phase transition in early universe as well as its evolution that leads to today's world of nature
