Author(s)Eickhoff, Jens
PublicationBerlin, Heidelberg, Springer Berlin Heidelberg, 2021.
DescriptionXXV, 451 p. 348 illus., 239 illus. in color : online resource
Abstract NoteThis book describes the development and design of a unique combined data and power management infrastructure for small satellites. This new edition became necessary because in the frame of the system's impressive evolution from an academic prototype to one of today's most advanced core avionics, many elements were upgraded to their next technology generation and diverse new components complement the upgraded design. All elements are presented in updated respectively new chapters. This modular infrastructure was selected by the Swiss start-up ClearSpace SA for ESA's first mission ClearSpace-1 to remove space debris. Furthermore it is the baseline for the Thai national satellite development program and is used by an increasing number of universities worldwide for research studies

PublicationSingapore, Springer Nature Singapore, 2021.
DescriptionIX, 232 p. 231 illus., 82 illus. in color : online resource
Abstract NoteThis textbook highlights principles and applications of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). After introducing the basic concepts, research progress, standardizations and limitations of EMC, the book puts emphasis on presenting the generation mechanisms and suppression principles of conducted electromagnetic interference (EMI) noise, radiated EMI noise, and electromagnetic susceptibility (EMS) problems such as static electricity, electric fast transient (EFT) and surge. With case studies and solved examples, the book provides effective solutions to actual engineering problems. Students and researchers will be able to use the book as practical reference for EMC-related measurements and problem-solving

TitleSilicon Photonics IV : Innovative Frontiers
Author(s)Lockwood, David J;Pavesi, Lorenzo
PublicationCham, Springer International Publishing, 2021.
DescriptionXIX, 512 p. 229 illus., 205 illus. in color : online resource
Abstract NoteThis fourth book in the series Silicon Photonics gathers together reviews of recent advances in the field of silicon photonics that go beyond already established and applied concepts in this technology. The field of research and development in silicon photonics has moved beyond improvements of integrated circuits fabricated with complementary metal???oxide???semiconductor (CMOS) technology to applications in engineering, physics, chemistry, materials science, biology, and medicine. The chapters provided in this book by experts in their fields thus cover not only new research into the highly desired goal of light production in Group IV materials, but also new measurement regimes and novel technologies, particularly in information processing and telecommunication. The book is suited for graduate students, established scientists, and research engineers who want to update their knowledge in these new topics

TitleAnalog and Digital Electronic Circuits : Fundamentals, Analysis, and Applications
Author(s)Prasad, R
PublicationCham, Springer International Publishing, 2021.
DescriptionXVIII, 965 p. 838 illus., 276 illus. in color : online resource
Abstract NoteThis book introduces the foundations and fundamentals of electronic circuits. It broadly covers the subjects of circuit analysis, as well as analog and digital electronics. It features discussion of essential theorems required for simplifying complex circuits and illustrates their applications under different conditions. Also, in view of the emerging potential of Laplace transform method for solving electrical networks, a full chapter is devoted to the topic in the book. In addition, it covers the physics and technical aspects of semiconductor diodes and transistors, as well as discrete-time digital signals, logic gates, and combinational logic circuits. Each chapter is presented as complete as possible, without the reader having to refer to any other book or supplementary material. Featuring short self-assessment questions distributed throughout, along with a large number of solved examples, supporting illustrations, and chapter-end problems and solutions, this book is ideal for any physics undergraduate lecture course on electronic circuits. Its use of clear language and many real-world examples make it an especially accessible book for students unfamiliar or unsure about the subject matter

TitlePhysical Anti-Collision in RFID Systems : Theory and Practice
Author(s)Yu, Xiaolei;Zhao, Zhimin;Zhang, Xuezhou
PublicationSingapore, Springer Nature Singapore, 2021.
DescriptionXII, 237 p. 168 illus., 43 illus. in color : online resource
Abstract NoteThis book highlights the innovative applications of electromagnetics, optics, thermodynamics theories in creating methods for physical-layer collision prevention- "physical anti-collision" in radio frequency identification (RFID) systems. Using engineering mathematical methods as the core of detection and control algorithm design, it proposes semi-physical verification and detection techniques to the dynamic performance testing in RFID systems. The book also introduces the methods to build semi-physical hardware platforms using photoelectric sensing technology. The book provides valuable ideas to the applications of Internet of Things (IOT) systems in smart logistics, car networking, food traceability, anti-counterfeiting and other livelihood fields. It is worth reading for all researchers in IOT and optoelectronic engineering related industries

TitleEmerging Non-volatile Memory Technologies : Physics, Engineering, and Applications
Author(s)Lew, Wen Siang;Lim, Gerard Joseph;Dananjaya, Putu Andhita
PublicationSingapore, Springer Nature Singapore, 2021.
DescriptionVIII, 438 p. 254 illus., 231 illus. in color : online resource
Abstract NoteThis book offers a balanced and comprehensive guide to the core principles, fundamental properties, experimental approaches, and state-of-the-art applications of two major groups of emerging non-volatile memory technologies, i.e. spintronics-based devices as well as resistive switching devices, also known as Resistive Random Access Memory (RRAM). The first section presents different types of spintronic-based devices, i.e. magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ), domain wall, and skyrmion memory devices. This section describes how their developments have led to various promising applications, such as microwave oscillators, detectors, magnetic logic, and neuromorphic engineered systems. In the second half of the book, the underlying device physics supported by different experimental observations and modelling of RRAM devices are presented with memory array level implementation. An insight into RRAM desired properties as synaptic element in neuromorphic computing platforms from material and algorithms viewpoint is also discussed with specific example in automatic sound classification framework
