Description | XXIII, 165 p. 70 illus., 65 illus. in color : online resource |
Abstract Note | This book describes the plasmonic photothermal-assisted multimodal cancer therapeutics in the area of cancer nanotechnology or cancer nanomedicine. This book covers the fundamentals of plasmonic photothermal cancer therapy as well as plasmonic photothermal mediated multimodal cancer therapy. The various steps involved in developing such therapeutic modality, viz. (a) the selection of suitable nanoparticles, (b) synthesis of multifunctional nanocomposite, (c) optimization of the photosensitizer and chemotherapeutic drug loadings, (d) characterization of the synthesized nanocomposite, and (e) therapeutic evaluations through novel tumor-tissue mimicking phantoms and the cancer cell lines are discussed in detail. Apart from the detailed description of therapeutic outcome, this book provides a step-by-step approach to develop a multifunctional nanocomposite for such therapeutics. Overall, this book provides simplified and in-depth information about cancer nanobiotechnology to the researchers and graduate students in subject areas of nanotechnology, biotechnology and pharmaceutics to develop and contribute to such multimodal cancer therapeutics |

Title | Nanomedicine : Emerging Prospects |
Author(s) | Tamil Selvan, Subramanian |
Publication | Singapore, 1. Imprint: Springer
2. Springer Nature Singapore, 2023. |
Description | VI, 73 p. 22 illus., 20 illus. in color : online resource |
Abstract Note | This book highlights the emerging paradigm of nanomedicine, intersecting two burgeoning fields of nanotechnology and medicine. Numerous publications have appeared in the literature over the years, especially in cancer nanomedicine. In a boarder sense, nanomedicine aims to apply the knowledge and tools of nanotechnology in a mission to diagnose early and prevent or treat diseases using biocompatible nanoparticles (NPs). Current research in nanomedicine and its prospects depend on creating new breakthroughs at the nexus of nanomaterials and biological systems, making use of non-toxic NPs and nano/biomaterials as smart theranostic systems for a variety of diseases including cancer, neurodegenerative, orthopedic, and cardiac diseases. This book provides a review on recent advancements of nanomedicine in the aforementioned emerging areas of nanomedicine |

Publication | Singapore, 1. Imprint: Springer
2. Springer Nature Singapore, 2023. |
Description | V, 168 p. 42 illus., 28 illus. in color : online resource |
Abstract Note | This book highlights the applications of nanotechnology in modern medicine. Today we are living in a world of fast-changing behavior and lifestyles. Despite health and wellbeing are often pronounced and enforced, the diseases and illnesses are emerging in different forms, at an alarming rate. Protecting the mankind is becoming ever more challenging. In this backdrop, medicine needs new approaches and technologies to build the defenses. Nanotechnology is successfully confronting the situation. It does so in two avenues, namely, nanomaterials, and, nanodevices. Nanomaterials possess extraordinary properties that are utilized to confront bacteria and viruses, and for targeted drug delivery. Nanodevices can be maneuvered inside the human body to reach extreme locations. This book presents the latest developments in these areas. |
