TitleMie Theory: Basic and applications
Author(s)Wolfram Hergert (ed.);Thomas Wriedt (ed.)
PublicationSpringer 2012.
Descriptionxiv, 259 p.
Abstract NoteThis book presents in a concise way the Mie theory and its current applications. It begins with an overview of current theories, computational methods, experimental techniques, and applications of optics of small particles. There is also some biographic information on Gustav Mie, who published his famous paper on the colour of Gold colloids in 1908. The Mie solution for the light scattering of small spherical particles set the basis for more advanced scattering theories and today there are many methods to calculate light scattering and absorption for practically any shape and composition of particles. The optics of small particles is of interest in industrial, atmospheric, astronomic and other research. The book covers the latest developments in divers fields in scattering theory such as plasmon resonance, multiple scattering and optical force.

TitleLight scattering media optics: Problems and solutions
Author(s)Alexander A. Kokhanovsky
Edition3rd.
PublicationChichester 2004.
Descriptionxxiv, 295p.
Abstract NoteThe main emphasis of the book is to introduce the modern approximate analytical methods utilised in light scattering optics. Also, analytical solutions are presented for single and multiple scattering problems in a variety of practical applications, including light scattering by natural media, image transfer, remote sensing and inverse problems, biological optics, planetary optics.

TitleMultiple scattering of light by particles : Radiative transfer and coherent backscattering
Author(s)Michael I. Mishchenko;Larry D. Travis;Andrew A. Lacis
PublicationCambridge, Cambridge University Press, 2006.
Descriptionxvi, 478p.
Contents NoteThis volume is a natural continuation of our recent monograph on Scattering, Absorption and Emission of Light by Small Particles (Mishchenko et al., 2002), in that it consistently uses the same general methodology and notation system while applying them to multiple scattering by random particle ensembles. However, the present book contains all the necessary background material and is self-contained. It presents a thorough and up-to-date treatment of multiple scattering of light and other electromagnetic radiation in media composed of randomly and sparsely positioned particles. The book traces the fundamental link between the RTT and the effect of a coherent backscattering (CB) and explains their place in the context of a comprehensive hierarchy of electromagnetic scattering problems.
