TitleHubble's science legacy : Future optical/ultraviolet astronomy from space : Proceedings of a workshop held at University of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois, USA, 2-5 April 2002
Author(s)Kenneth R. Sembach (ed.);J.C. Blades (ed.);Garth D. Illingworth (ed.);Robert C. Kennicutt, Jr. (ed.)
PublicationCalifornia, Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 2003.
Descriptionxxiii, 429p.
Series(Astronomical Society of the Pacific Conference Series; 291)
Contents NoteIn 2010 the Hubble Space telescope is expected to have completed its two-decade mission,. Its enormous scientific legacy will be furthered in part by other missions, including the Next Generation Space Telescope, but the lack of optical-UV capability in space after 2010 will likely have a significant scientific impact. This workshop aimed at looking beyond HST at the scientific challenges of the next decade, and then at the types of missions and the technologies needed to reach those goals.

TitleModes of star formation and the origin of field populations : Proceedings of a workshop held at Max-Planck Institute of Astronomy, Heidelberg Germany, 9-13 October 2000
Author(s)Eva K. Grebel (ed.);Wolfgang Brandner (ed.)
PublicationCalifornia, Astronomy Society of the Pacific, 2002.
Descriptionxvi, 457p.
Series(Astronomical Society of the Pacific Conference Series; 285)
Contents NoteThe workshop focuses on the different modes of star formation observed in the local Universe with the goal of identifying the dominant processes and their preconditions. In particular, the origin and evolution of field populations is contrasted with cluster formation and evolution. A second complimentary conference, I.A.U. Symposium 207 on 'Extragalactic Star Clusters' organised by E.K. Grebel and D. Geisler was held in Chile in March 2001 and was dedicated to detailed discussions of the properties of star clusters of all types and ages
