TitleModelling of stellar atmospheres : Proceedings of the 210th symposium of the International Astronomical Union held at Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden 17-21 June 2002
Author(s)Nikolai Piskunov (ed.);Werner W. Weiss (ed.);David F. Gray (ed.)
PublicationCalifornia, USA, Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 2003.
Contents NoteIn 1992 a number of astronomers in Boulder, Moscow, Uppsala and Vienna spearheaded a sequence of workshops on the modeling on stellar atmospheres. This series culminated in the 1995 meeting. Model Atmospheres and Spectrum Synthesis, with the proceedings published as volume 108 of the ASPCS. Since then, rapid progress in this field through faster computers, more sophisticated software, better observations of stellar spectra, and deeper physical understanding called for a comprehensive meeting that would discuss the role of models of stellar atmospheres in a much wider perspective than done with the workshops. This was accomplished in the IAU Symposium 210, held at the Uppsala University, June 17-21, 2002.

Author(s)Gary Ferland (ed.);Daniel Wolf Savin (ed.)
PublicationCalifornia, Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 2001.
Descriptionxiv, 556p.
Series(Astronomical Society of the Pacific Conference Series; 247)
Contents NoteThis conference was the third in a series which began in 1985 with a meeting on modeling ionized nebulae in Meudon, France. The second meeting was held in 1994 in Lexington, Kentucky and was in conjunction with the 70th birthdays of Professors Donald Osterbrock and Michael Seaton. This latest installment in the conference series focused on our current understanding of cosmic photoionized gases and outlined the challenges presented by high resolution x-ray through IR spectroscopy of photoionized sources.
