TitleTracing cosmic evolution with galaxy clusters : Proceedings of the Sesto-2001 workshop held in Sesto Pusteria , Alto Adige/Sudtirol, Italy, 3-6 July 2001
Author(s)Stefano Borgani (ed.);Marino Mezzetti (ed.);Riccardo Valdarnini (ed.)
PublicationCalifornia, Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 2002.
Descriptionxxv, 468p.
Series(Astronomical Society of the Pacific Conference Series; 268)
Abstract NoteDedicated to memory of Giuliano Giuricin (June 15, 1950 - May 14, 2001)
Contents NoteThe aim of the Sesto-2001 workshop was to provide a status-of-art overview on multiwavelength studies of galaxy clusters, from X-ray to UV, optical, near-and far IR, sub-mm and radio bands. Two complementary aspects of cluster studies was emphasized. From the one hand, clusters of galaxies have been presented as powerful tracers of the structure of the Universe over the largest today accessible scales and over a sizeable fraction of the cosmological past light-cone. From the other hand clusters are powerful astrophysical laboratories, where to study the history of cosmic baryons and the processes of galaxy formation and evolution.

TitleCosmology and large scale structure : Proceedings of the Les Houches session LX held in Haute-Savoie, France, August 1 - 28, 1993
Author(s)R. Schaeffer (ed.);J. Silk (ed.);M. Spiro (ed.);J. Zinn-Justin (ed.)
PublicationAmsterdam, Elsevier Science Publishers, 1993.
Descriptionxxxix, 968p.
Contents NoteThe session LX of Les Houches Summer School on cosmology and large scale structure was devoted to exploring the nature of dark matter and the evolution of the universe, points intricately interwined with the understanding of the observed structures. More than a decade after the field has been totally renewed by the unveiling of its relation with modern particle physics, right after the breakthrough of the discovery of the microwave background fluctuations by COBE that confirms these views, and just after the HST entered in operation, the year 1993 provided a timely opportunity to assess our present understanding of the subject.
