TitleGas and galaxy evolution: A conference in honor of the 20th anniversary of the VLA : Proceedings of a conference held in Socorro, New Mexico, USA 21-24 May 2000
Author(s)J.E. Hibbard (ed.);M.P. Rupen (ed.);J.H. van Gorkom (ed.)
PublicationCalifornia, Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 2001.
Descriptionxxxix, 887p.
Series(Astronomical Society of the Pacific Conference Series; 240)
Contents NoteOctober 10, 1980 was the dedication of the Very Large Array. It was at the time the largest, most sensitive, and most flexible radio telescope by far. To celebrate twenty years of science with the Very Large Array, a conference was held in Socorro in May 2000. The theme of the conference was the role of gas in galaxy evolution, starting out in the early universe, continuing through recombination, galaxy formation and re-ionization and ending with the local universe, including a panel discussion on the nature of high-velocity clouds.
