Title | Powerful Pulsed Plasma Generators : Research and Application |
Author(s) | Kolikov, Victor;Bogomaz, Alexander;Budin, Alexander |
Publication | Cham, Springer International Publishing, 2018. |
Description | XXI, 250 p. 173 illus., 12 illus. in color : online resource |
Abstract Note | This book presents experimental and theoretical results on extremely powerful plasma generators. It addresses pulsed electrical mega-ampere arcs and the mechanisms of energy transfer from the arc into hydrogen, helium and air under pressures up to 250 MPa and currents up to 2 MA. Extreme plasma parameters and increased energy density in the arc were achieved. It was found experimentally that increasing the initial gas pressure to hundreds of MPa leads to improved arc stability, high efficiency of energy transfer from arc to gas, and plasma enthalpy growth. The data obtained data provides the basis for the development of electrophysical devices with high energy density, e.g. high intensity sources for visible, UV and X-ray irradiation for laser pumping, generators of high enthalpy plasma jets, and plasma chemical reactors |

Author(s) | Herman, Marian A;Richter, W;Sitter, Helmut |
Publication | Berlin, Heidelberg, Springer Berlin Heidelberg, 2004. |
Description | XV, 525 p. 303 illus : online resource |
Abstract Note | Epitaxy provides readers with a comprehensive treatment of the modern models and modifications of epitaxy, together with the relevant experimental and technological framework. This advanced textbook describes all important aspects of the epitaxial growth processes of solid films on crystalline substrates, including a section on heteroepitaxy. It covers and discusses in details the most important epitaxial growth techniques, which are currently widely used in basic research as well as in manufacturing processes of devices, namely solid-phase epitaxy, liquid-phase epitaxy, vapor-phase epitaxy, including metal-organic vapor-phase epitaxy and molecular-beam epitaxy. Epitaxy???s coverage of science and texhnology thin-film is intended to fill the need for a comprehensive reference and text examining the variety of problems related to the physical foundations and technical implementation of epitaxial crystallization. It is intended for undergraduate students, PhD students, research scientists, lecturers and practicing engineers interested in materials science, solid state electronics and crystal growth |

Title | Multiparameter Equations of State : An Accurate Source of Thermodynamic Property Data |
Author(s) | Span, Roland |
Publication | Berlin, Heidelberg, Springer Berlin Heidelberg, 2000. |
Description | XVIII, 367 p : online resource |
Abstract Note | As basis of printed property charts and tables, empirical multiparameter equations of state are the most important source of accurate thermodynamic property data for more than 30 years now. However, due to increasing demands on the accuracy of thermodynamic property data in computerised calculations, to the availability of appropriate software tools, and to increasing computer power, such formulations became a valuable tool for every days work nowadays. This development has increased the number of scientists, engineers, and students who are working with empirical multiparameter equations of state. Nevertheless, the common knowledge on this kind of thermodynamic property models and on the ongoing progress in this scientific discipline is still very limited. This book is the first attempt to summarise the available know-how from the fundamentals to very recent developments in a single reference. Since the book is dedicated both to common users and to scientists who want to engage themselves in the development of multiparameter equations of state, general topics like the application of empirical equations of state or typical performances of different classes of formulations are discussed separately from advanced topics like the optimisation of the functional form or the improved representation of properties in the critical region. In this way, the book becomes a useful reference for readers with very different background. 480 references, 352 equations, 154 figures, and 36 tables underline the ambitiousness of this approach |

Title | Mixing of Solids |
Author(s) | Weinek??tter, Ralf;Gericke, H |
Publication | Dordrecht, Springer Netherlands, 2000. |
Description | XVI, 156 p : online resource |
Abstract Note | This book is a welcome edition to the Particle Technology Series, formerly Powder Technology Series. It is the second book in the series which describes powder mixing and we make no excuses for that. The topic of powder mixing is fundamental to powder technology and is one which always aroses interest. That will not change. As powder products become more complex they will pose new mixing problems. The solutions lie in the intelligent use of equipment, an understanding of powder properties and a good knowledge of basic statistics. The authors of this book have presented those three ingredients with great clarity. The book is based on long experience and deep thought, I have enjoyed reading it and am pleased to recommend it. Delft University of Technology, NL-Delft, July 1999 Brian Scarlett, Series Editor IX VII Foreword to the English Edition In response to many enquiries from industrial organisations and institutes involved with the technology of processing bulk materials, we are pleased to present the English edition ,,Mixing of Solids". The text is based on the first edition written in the German language "Mischen von Schiittgiitern" [1]. The English version has been revised and updated to include the most recent re?? search developments, the conclusions of which have been taken into account |

Publication | Dordrecht, Springer Netherlands, 2001. |
Description | XII, 314 p : online resource |
Abstract Note | Upspeeding technological evolution and globalisation characterise today???s and future lives of engineers. It is vital for all institutions involved in engineering education to keep pace and to anticipate future needs. The herein presented collection of papers results from the Workshop on Global Engineering Education (GEE???3) which took place at Aachen University of Technology, 18 ??? 20 October 2000. In this meeting more than 150 specialists from 25 countries discussed the topic ???Educating the Engineer for the Century???. Which role to attribute to non-technical qualifications? How to integrate ethical aspects in education? Do we have to define international standards in education? What about quality control? What is the potential of new media for knowledge transfer? How to organise lifelong learning for engineers? - These are some of the questions discussed among representatives of industries, educational institutions, politicians and individuals during this meeting. According to the sessions of the workshop, the book is subdivided into chapters covering the areas ???Role of the Global Engineer in Meeting the Challenges of Society in the Century???, ???Internationality and Interdisciplinarity???, ???Engineering Education in Emerging Economies???, ???European Bachelor and Master Programmes???, ???Developing Personal Skills to be a Global Engineer???. Three chapters deal with successful practice in engineering education covering the topics ???Programmes, Curricula and Evaluation???, ???Educational Concepts???, and ???University-Industry Partnership, Design Projects??? |
