Contents Note | Fred Hoyle was a remarkable scientist, and made an immense contribution to solving many importnat problems in astronomy. Several of his obituaries commented that he had influenced the course of astrophysics and cosmology in the second half of the twentieth century more than any other person.
The book is based on a meeting that was held in recognition of his work and contains chapters by many of Hoyle's scientific collaborators, Each chapter reviews an aspect of Fred Hoyle's work; many of the subjects he tackled are still areas of hot debate and active research.
