TitleBiosensing with Silicon : Fabrication and Miniaturization of Electrochemical and Cantilever Sensors
Author(s)Bhattacharya, Enakshi
PublicationCham, Springer International Publishing, 2021.
DescriptionXII, 107 p. 72 illus., 53 illus. in color : online resource
Abstract NoteThis book discusses two silicon biosensors: an electrochemical sensor ??? the Electrolyte Insulator Silicon Capacitor (EISCAP), and a mechanical resonant cantilever sensor. The author presents the principle and the technology behind the device fabrication and miniaturization, stable and reproducible functionalization protocols for bioreceptor immobilization, and the measurement and the data analysis for extracting the best performance from these sensors. EISCAP sensors, used for the estimation of triglycerides and urea, have been improved through the use of micromachining processes. The miniaturization brought out advantages as well as challenges which are discussed in this book, resulting in a prototype mini-EISCAP with a readout circuit for fast and accurate estimation of triglycerides. The author also reports on the sensitivity improvements in the estimation of triglycerides and urea obtained with the polycrystalline silicon cantilever and its measurements in liquid media. The book is ideal for materials scientists and engineers working in the field of biosensors and MicroElectroMechanical systems (MEMS) and their optimizations, as well as researchers with biochemical or biomedical expertise, in order to have a fresh and updated review on the last progresses reached with EISCAPs and cantilever sensors

TitleAdvanced Methods for Human Biometrics
Author(s)Derbel, Nabil;Kanoun, Olfa
PublicationCham, Springer International Publishing, 2021.
DescriptionX, 303 p. 169 illus., 137 illus. in color : online resource
Abstract NoteThe book highlights recent developments in human biometrics, covering a wide range of methods based on biological signals, image processing, and measurements of human characteristics such as fingerprints and iris or medical characteristics. Human Biometrics is becoming increasingly crucial in forensics security and medicine. They provide a solid basis for identifying individuals based on unique physical characteristics or diseases based on characteristic biomedical measurements. As such, the book offers an essential reference guide about biometry methods for students, engineers, designers, and technicians.

TitleIntroduction to sensors
Author(s)John Vetelino;Arvind Reghu
PublicationNew Delhi, CRC Press, 2015.
Descriptionxiii, 179p.
Abstract NoteThe need for new types of sensors is more critical than ever. This is due to the emergence of increasingly complex technologies, health and security concerns of a burgeoning world population, and the emergence of terrorist activities, among other factors. Depending on their application, the design, fabrication, testing, and use of sensors, all require various kinds of both technical and nontechnical expertise. With this in mind, Introduction to Sensors examines the theoretical foundations and practical applications of electrochemical, piezoelectric, fiber optic, thermal, and magnetic sensors and their use in the modern era. Incorporating information from sensor-based industries to review current developments in the field,
