Title | An Introduction to Riemann Surfaces, Algebraic Curves and Moduli Spaces |
Author(s) | Schlichenmaier, Martin |
Publication | Berlin, Heidelberg, Springer Berlin Heidelberg, 1989. |
Description | XIII, 149 p : online resource |
Abstract Note | This lecture is intended as an introduction to the mathematical concepts of algebraic and analytic geometry. It is addressed primarily to theoretical physicists, in particular those working in string theories. The author gives a very clear exposition of the main theorems, introducing the necessary concepts by lucid examples, and shows how to work with the methods of algebraic geometry. As an example he presents the Krichever-Novikov construction of algebras of Virasaro type. The book will be welcomed by many researchers as an overview of an important branch of mathematics, a collection of useful formulae and an excellent guide to the more extensive mathematical literature |

Title | Algebraic Renormalization : Perturbative Renormalization, Symmetries and Anomalies |
Author(s) | Piguet, Olivier;Sorella, Silvio P |
Publication | Berlin, Heidelberg, Springer Berlin Heidelberg, 1995. |
Description | IX, 138 p : online resource |
Abstract Note | This book provides a pedagogical and self-contained introduction to the algebraic method of renormalization in perturbative quantum field theory. This method is based on general theorems of renormalization, in particular on the quantum action principle. It allows us to treat the problems of the renormalizability and the anomalies of models with local or global symmetries in terms of the algebraic properties of classical field polynomials. Several examples (e.g. topological models) are considered in some detail. One of the main advantages of this method, beyond its simplicity, is its great power, because no particular subtraction or regularization scheme preserving the symmetries of the problem is a priori required |

Title | Gauge Theory and Symplectic Geometry |
Author(s) | Hurtubise, Jacques;Lalonde, Fran??ois |
Publication | Dordrecht, Springer Netherlands, 1997. |
Description | XVII, 212 p : online resource |
Abstract Note | Gauge theory, symplectic geometry and symplectic topology are important areas at the crossroads of several mathematical disciplines. The present book, with expertly written surveys of recent developments in these areas, includes some of the first expository material of Seiberg-Witten theory, which has revolutionised the subjects since its introduction in late 1994. Topics covered include: introductions to Seiberg-Witten theory, to applications of the S-W theory to four-dimensional manifold topology, and to the classification of symplectic manifolds; an introduction to the theory of pseudo-holomorphic curves and to quantum cohomology; algebraically integrable Hamiltonian systems and moduli spaces; the stable topology of gauge theory, Morse-Floer theory; pseudo-convexity and its relations to symplectic geometry; generating functions; Frobenius manifolds and topological quantum field theory |
