Title | Mass Term Effect on Fractional Quantum Hall States of Dirac Particles |
Author(s) | Yonaga, Kouki |
Publication | Singapore, 1. Imprint: Springer
2. Springer Nature Singapore, 2022. |
Description | XII, 90 p. 58 illus., 51 illus. in color : online resource |
Abstract Note | This book presents the high-precision analysis of ground states and low-energy excitations in fractional quantum Hall states formed by Dirac electrons, which have attracted a great deal of attention. In particular the author focuses on the physics of fractional quantum Hall states in graphene on a hexagonal boron nitride substrate, which was recently implemented in experiments. The numerical approach employed in the book, which uses an exact numerical diagonalization of an effective model Hamiltonian on a Haldane???s sphere based on pseudopotential representation of electron interaction, provides a better understanding of the recent experiments. The book reviews various aspects of quantum Hall effect: a brief history, recent experiments with graphene, and fundamental theories on integer and fractional Hall effects. It allows readers to quickly grasp the physics of quantum Hall states of Dirac fermions, and to catch up on latest research on the quantum Hall effect in graphene |

Title | Integrated Electronics on Aluminum Nitride : Materials and Devices |
Author(s) | Chaudhuri, Reet |
Publication | Cham, 1. Imprint: Springer
2. Springer International Publishing, 2022. |
Description | XVI, 255 p. 124 illus., 122 illus. in color : online resource |
Abstract Note | This thesis outlines the principles, device physics, and technological applications of electronics based on the ultra-wide bandgap semiconductor aluminum nitride. It discusses the basic principles of electrostatics and transport properties of polarization-induced two-dimensional electron and hole channels in semiconductor heterostructures based on aluminum nitride. It explains the discovery of high-density two-dimensional hole gases in undoped heterojunctions, and shows how these high conductivity n- and p-type channels are used for high performance nFETs and pFETs, along with wide bandgap RF, mm-wave, and CMOS applications. The thesis goes on to discuss how the several material advantages of aluminum nitride, such as its high thermal conductivity and piezoelectric coefficient, enable not just high performance of transistors, but also monolithic integration of passive elements such as high frequency filters, enabling a new form factor for integrated RF electronics |

Title | The Physics of Laser Radiation???Matter Interaction : Fundamentals, and Selected Applications in Metrology |
Author(s) | Horn, Alexander |
Publication | Cham, 1. Imprint: Springer
2. Springer International Publishing, 2022. |
Description | XXVI, 422 p. 201 illus., 191 illus. in color : online resource |
Abstract Note | This textbook explains the fundamental processes involved in the interaction of electromagnetic radiation with matter. It leads students from a general discussion of electrodynamics, forming the mathematical foundation for the Maxwell equations, to key results such as the Fresnel equations, Snell???s law, and the Brewster angle, deriving along the way the equations for accelerated charges and discussing dipole radiation, Bremsstrahlung and synchrotron radiation. By considering more and more interacting particles, the book advances its treatment of the subject, approaching the solid-state regime using both classical and quantum mechanical approaches to describe interaction paths with electromagnetic radiation. Finally, specific interactions of laser radiation with matter are explained such as ultrafast, coherent, and selective interaction. With an emphasis on achieving an intuitive grasp of the basic physics underlying common laser technology, this textbook is ideal for graduate students seeking both a better fundamental and applied understanding of laser???matter interaction |
