TitleSymmetries in quantum mechanics: From Angular Momentum to Supersymmetry
Author(s)Masud Chaichian;Rolf Hagedorn
PublicationNew York, Taylor and Francis, 1994.
Descriptionxiv, 303p.
Series(Graduate Student Series in Physics)
Abstract NoteSymmetries in Quantum Mechanics: From Angular Momentum to Supersymmetry (PBK) provides a thorough, didactic exposition of the role of symmetry, particularly rotational symmetry, in quantum mechanics. The bulk of the book covers the description of rotations (geometrically and group-theoretically) and their representations, and the quantum theory of angular momentum. Later chapters introduce more advanced topics such as relativistic theory, supersymmetry, anyons, fractional spin, and statistics. With clear, in-depth explanations, the book is ideal for use as a course text for postgraduate and advanced undergraduate students in physics and those specializing in theoretical physics. It is also useful for researchers looking for an accessible introduction to this important area of quantum theory.

TitleNeutrinos in high energy and astroparticle physics
Author(s)Valle. Jose W.F.;Jorge C. Romao
PublicationVerlag, Wiley-VCH, 2015.
Descriptionxxii, 425p.
Abstract NoteThis self-contained modern textbook provides a modern description of the Standard Model and its main extensions from the perspective of neutrino physics. In particular it includes a thorough discussion of the varieties of seesaw mechanism, with or without supersymmetry. It also discusses schemes where neutrino mass arises from lighter messengers, which might lie within reach of the world's largest particle accelerator, the Large Hadron Collider. Throughout the text, the book stresses the role of neutrinos due to the fact that neutrino properties may serve as a guide to the correct model of unification, hence for a deeper understanding of high energy physics, and because neutrinos play an important role in astroparticle physics and cosmology. Each chapter includes summaries and set of problems, as well as further reading.

TitleSupersymmetry: Theory, Experiment, and Cosmology
Author(s)Pierre Binetruy
PublicationOxford, Oxford University Press, 2006.
Descriptionxii, 520p.
Abstract Notehis book describes the basic concepts of supersymmetric theories. It is aimed at theorists, experimentalists and cosmologists interested in supersymmetry, and its content is correspondingly divided into three distinct tracks of study. The topics covered include a discussion of the motivation for supersymmetry in fundamental physics, a description of the minimal supersymmetric model as well as models of grand unification and string models, a presentation of the main scenarios for supersymmetry breaking, including the concepts and results of dynamical breaking. On the astrophysics/cosmology side, the book includes discussions of supersymmetric dark matter candidates, inflation, dark energy, and the cosmological constant problem. Some very basic knowledge of quantum field theory is needed and extensive appendices (in particular an introduction to the Standard Model of fundamental interactions) allow the reader to refresh and complete their notions.

TitleString theory and particle physics; An Introduction to String Phenomenology
Author(s)Luis E. Ibanez;Angel M. Uranga
PublicationCambridge, Cambridge University Press, 2012.
Descriptionxiii, 673p.
Abstract NoteString theory is one of the most active branches of theoretical physics and has the potential to provide a unified description of all known particles and interactions. This book is a systematic introduction to the subject, focused on the detailed description of how string theory is connected to the real world of particle physics. Aimed at graduate students and researchers working in high energy physics, it provides explicit models of physics beyond the Standard Model. No prior knowledge of string theory is required as all necessary material is provided in the introductory chapters. The book provides particle phenomenologists with the information needed to understand string theory model building and describes in detail several alternative approaches to model building, such as heterotic string compactifications, intersecting D-brane models, D-branes at singularities and F-theory.

TitleIntroduction to supersymmetry
Author(s)Harald J.W. Muller-Kirsten;Armin Wiedemann
Edition2nd.
PublicationNew Jersey, World Scientific Publishing Co. Pvt. Ltd., 2010.
Descriptionxi, 439p.
Series(World Scientific Lecture Notes in Physics)
Abstract Notebook provides an introduction to supersymmetry, and thus begins with a substantial chapter on spacetime symmetries and spinors. Following this, graded algebras are introduced, and thereafter the supersymmetric extension of the spacetime Poincaré algebra and its representations. The Wess–Zumino model, superfields, supersymmetric Lagrangians, and supersymmetric gauge theories are treated in detail in subsequent chapters. Finally the breaking of supersymmetry is addressed meticulously. All calculations are presented in detail so that the reader can follow every step.
