Title Nonlinear System Identification : From Classical Approaches to Neural Networks, Fuzzy Models, and Gaussian Processes
Author(s) Nelles, Oliver
Publication Cham, 1. Imprint: Springer
2. Springer International Publishing, 2020.
Description X, 1203 p. 670 illus., 179 illus. in color : online resource
Abstract Note This book provides engineers and scientists in academia and industry with a thorough understanding of the underlying principles of nonlinear system identification. It equips them to apply the models and methods discussed to real problems with confidence, while also making them aware of potential difficulties that may arise in practice. Moreover, the book is selfcontained, requiring only a basic grasp of matrix algebra, signals and systems, and statistics. Accordingly, it can also serve as an introduction to linear system identification, and provides a practical overview of the major optimization methods used in engineering. The focus is on gaining an intuitive understanding of the subject and the practical application of the techniques discussed. The book is not written in a theorem/proof style; instead, the mathematics is kept to a minimum, and the ideas covered are illustrated with numerous figures, examples, and realworld applications. In the past, nonlinear system identification was a field characterized by a variety of adhoc approaches, each applicable only to a very limited class of systems. With the advent of neural networks, fuzzy models, Gaussian process models, and modern structure optimization techniques, a much broader class of systems can now be handled. Although one major aspect of nonlinear systems is that virtually every one is unique, tools have since been developed that allow each approach to be applied to a wide variety of systems.

Publication Singapore, 1. Imprint: Springer
2. Springer Singapore, 2020.
Description XI, 430 p. 68 illus., 66 illus. in color : online resource
Abstract Note This is the first book focusing on bifurcation dynamics in 1dimensional polynomial nonlinear discrete systems. It comprehensively discusses the general mathematical conditions of bifurcations in polynomial nonlinear discrete systems, as well as appearing and switching bifurcations for simple and higherorder singularity period1 fixedpoints in the 1dimensional polynomial discrete systems. Further, it analyzes the bifurcation trees of period1 to chaos generated by perioddoubling, and monotonic saddlenode bifurcations. Lastly, the book presents methods for period2 and perioddoubling renormalization for polynomial discrete systems, and describes the appearing mechanism and perioddoublization of periodn fixedpoints on bifurcation trees for the first time, offering readers fascinating insights into recent research results in nonlinear discrete systems

Title Theory of Hybrid Systems: Deterministic and Stochastic

Publication Singapore, 1. Imprint: Springer
2. Springer Singapore, 2018.
Description XVI, 241 p. 38 illus., 37 illus. in color : online resource
Abstract Note This book is the first to present the application of the hybrid system theory to systems with EPCA (equations with piecewise continuous arguments). The hybrid system paradigm is a valuable modeling tool for describing a wide range of realworld applications. Moreover, although new technology has produced, and continues to produce highly hierarchical sophisticated machinery that cannot be analyzed as a whole system, hybrid system representation can be used to reduce the structural complexity of these systems. That is to say, hybrid systems have become a modeling priority, which in turn has led to the creation of a promising research field with several application areas. As such, the book explores recent developments in the area of deterministic and stochastic hybrid systems using the Lyapunov and Razumikhin???Lyapunov methods to investigate the systems??? properties. It also describes properties such as stability, stabilization, reliable control, Hinfinity optimal control, inputtostate stability (ISS)/stabilization, state estimation, and largescale singularly perturbed systems

Publication Singapore, 1. Imprint: Springer
2. Springer Singapore, 2020.
Description X, 313 p. 43 illus., 16 illus. in color : online resource
Abstract Note This book focuses on bifurcation and stability in nonlinear discrete systems, including monotonic and oscillatory stability. It presents the local monotonic and oscillatory stability and bifurcation of period1 fixedpoints on a specific eigenvector direction, and discusses the corresponding higherorder singularity of fixedpoints. Further, it explores the global analysis of monotonic and oscillatory stability of fixedpoints in 1dimensional discrete systems through 1dimensional polynomial discrete systems. Based on the YinYang theory of nonlinear discrete systems, the book also addresses the dynamics of forward and backward nonlinear discrete systems, and the existence conditions of fixedpoints in said systems. Lastly, in the context of local analysis, it describes the normal forms of nonlinear discrete systems and infinitefixedpoint discrete systems. Examining nonlinear discrete systems from various perspectives, the book helps readers gain a better understanding of the nonlinear dynamics of such systems

Title Bifurcation in Autonomous and Nonautonomous Differential Equations with Discontinuities
Author(s) Akhmet, Marat;Kashkynbayev, Ardak
Publication Singapore, 1. Imprint: Springer
2. Springer Singapore, 2017.
Description XI, 166 p. 31 illus., 26 illus. in color : online resource
Abstract Note This book is devoted to bifurcation theory for autonomous and nonautonomous differential equations with discontinuities of different types. That is, those with jumps present either in the righthandside or in trajectories or in the arguments of solutions of equations. The results obtained in this book can be applied to various fields such as neural networks, brain dynamics, mechanical systems, weather phenomena, population dynamics, etc. Without any doubt, bifurcation theory should be further developed to different types of differential equations. In this sense, the present book will be a leading one in this field. The reader will benefit from the recent results of the theory and will learn in the very concrete way how to apply this theory to differential equations with various types of discontinuity. Moreover, the reader will learn new ways to analyze nonautonomous bifurcation scenarios in these equations. The book will be of a big interest both for ??beginners and experts in the field. For the former group of specialists, that is, undergraduate and graduate students, the book will be useful since it provides a strong impression that bifurcation theory can be developed not only for discrete and continuous systems, but those which combine these systems in very different ways. The latter group of specialists will find in this book several powerful instruments developed for the theory of discontinuous dynamical systems with variable moments of impacts, differential equations with piecewise constant arguments of generalized type and Filippov systems. A significant benefit of the present book is expected to be for those who consider bifurcations in systems with impulses since they are presumably nonautonomous systems
